Attention all specialty crop researchers! The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is now accepting pre-applications for its Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI) program for fiscal year (FY) 2023. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure funding for your research project and make a real impact on the specialty crop industry in the United States.
The SCRI program is dedicated to addressing the critical needs of the specialty crop industry through research and extension activities that use systems-based, trans-disciplinary approaches. By promoting collaboration, open communication, and the exchange of information, the SCRI program helps to accelerate the application of scientific discoveries and technology to solve problems facing specialty crops.
In FY 2023, approximately $80 million is available for support through the SCRI program. If you are working on a research project that aligns with the priorities of the SCRI program and meets the eligibility criteria, we encourage you to apply. The application process is split into two stages: pre-application and full application. For the pre-application stage, you will be required to submit a Stakeholder Relevance Statement (SRS). A panel of industry representatives will review the SRS and recommend which applicants should be invited to submit a full application.
Don’t miss out on this exciting funding opportunity! Head to the NIFA website to learn more about the SCRI program and submit your pre-application today. With your help, we can work towards finding truly effective solutions to the challenges facing the specialty crop industry and supporting the sustainability of food and agriculture in the United States.
Pre-Application Deadline: January 12, 2023
